What are you paying for tools that were never going to talk to each other?

Tick what you pay for now and change any number to what you actually pay. We start you off with each vendor's published price and the date we read it. The answer includes what does not go away.

Marketplaces you sell on

These are channels, not tools you cancel. Roots HQ pulls the sales into your numbers; you keep paying the commission either way — so ticking one adds the same cost to both sides of the comparison.

5 of the tools you ticked are only partly replaced. The number above assumes you drop them entirely. Whether you actually can depends on the gaps listed below.

The Live & Grow preset already contains every module this selection needs, at $344/mo — more modules for the difference, not a discount on these ones. See presets

The part most calculators leave out

What does not go away.

Roots HQ replaces subscriptions. It does not replace your payment processor, your carriers, or the marketplaces you sell on. These costs sit on both sides of the comparison above.

Card processing

Stripe, Square or PayPal keep charging their own rates on every sale. Roots HQ does not process payments and takes no cut of one — but nothing about moving here reduces what your processor charges.

Marketplace commission

If you sell on Whatnot or Palmstreet, you keep paying their selling fees. Roots HQ pulls those sales into your numbers; it does not replace the channel.

Postage

Labels are billed by EasyPost and the carrier. That is a pass-through cost, not part of your subscription.

The accounts you bring

Email sending (your SMTP provider), SMS (your Twilio number), and shipping (your EasyPost account) are billed to you by those providers. Roots HQ does not resell any of them.

Where the overlap stops

What Roots HQ does not do for the tools you ticked.

Each of these is taken from the feature registry the rest of this site runs on — the same source behind every status badge on the features page.

ShopifyOnline storefront

Roots HQ gives you a real storefront on your own domain, but the public shop still sells the parent item — there is no shopper-facing variant selector yet. If your catalogue lives or dies on size and colour pickers, keep Shopify for now.

CommentSoldLive selling

Roots HQ runs live selling through your own storefront and keeps the buyer list. It does not publish a branded consumer mobile app for your shoppers to install.

QuickBooks OnlineBookkeeping

Roots HQ posts your sales, costs and payouts to a real double-entry ledger and rolls the year up for tax time. It has no live bank feed — bank lines arrive by CSV or manual entry — it does not file anything, and it tracks payroll as an expense rather than running it. It does not replace your accountant.

MailchimpEmail marketing

You compose, schedule and send from Roots HQ against a list you own — but you connect your own SMTP provider and pay it separately. Roots HQ does not resell email sending, so deliverability is your provider’s, not ours.

ShipStationShipping labels

Live rates, label purchase and tracking run through EasyPost, so you bring an EasyPost account. Postage is billed by EasyPost and the carrier, separately from your subscription.

Your Roots HQ

8 modules, $272 a month.

Switched on by what you ticked. Modules that others depend on are included automatically — a storefront needs inventory underneath it, marketing needs the customer list.
